Ming’s frisky comrades

What is it with Lib Demmers? Their fornicating ways apparently know no bounds. Last year, a series of exposes involving some familiar faces - Mark Oaten and Simon Hughes- hurt the Lib Dems' reputation for seriousness. Then, at the end of 2006 we had Lembit Opik and Gabi, his young Romanian squeeze, chanteuse of the hit The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum). Lembit insists, as you would expect, that his new relationship is a 'meeting of minds'. Hmmmm…

Now we hear that another Lib Demmer has been actively engaged in extra marital goings on. And one of the duller, more wooden Lib Demmers, Lord Alex Carlile, as it happens. He’s the fellow in charge of monitoring the nation’s anti-terror laws (and was MP for the same constituency as Lembit from 1983-97) . He has found time to dump his wife of 37 years and is having a relationship with a barrister 15 years his junior.
The majority of recent opinion polls have registered a sharp slippage in the LibDem position. It’s not surprising while their attentions are so focused (cough) on extra curricular matters. As for their leader, the former Olympian Ming Campbell, I can't imagine him getting into bed with anyone... other than Lady Elspeth or Gordon Brown if the Lib Dems hold the balance of power after the next election… The chances are high because a Tory lead in the share of the vote of between one and 11.8 points would result in a hung parliament. Then who (forgive me) will be screwing who?

Take a look at the behaviour of Baroness Brenda Hale - now an Appeal Court Judge and her goings-on at the Law Commission.........she was a Family Division Judge.

Too true, Observer. Brenda Hale is a nasty piece of work:

According to an opinion poll in today's "Independent", the Tories are on 34 per cent (down two points on last month), Labour on 29 per cent (down eight points), the Liberal Democrats on 21 per cent (up seven points)I have real difficulties in explaining the rise in Lib Dem support. For much of 2006, they were on 15% if not less of the vote. Is it just that disaffected Labourites are sick of waiting for TB to quit and registering a protest vote? Or is some other shift under way?

Istanbultory,

The following story does not belong in this thread but may be of interest to you because of your insights into the situation.

Dink murder suspect threatens Turkish author Orhan Pamuk. Result: Pamuk had to chancel his trips.

Love that ; but your poll is a worry IT.Truth be told I hate the Fib Dums more than the Labs.I think it equally likely that Cameron will be pacting though. There is some very rightish thinking in the Libs at local level at least.

I think its something they put in the herbal tea. J Thorpe had his gay lover murdered and forget Lloyds George was a goat. They just don`t seemt to be able to keep their trousers on.

I `ve got a certain amount of sympathy on that...why do you only get offers when you cannot accept them IT ? Women !!!

Yeeeesh

Colin,
What can I say…ıt now seems that the national Police Department had received information in April 2006 about a planned attack against Hrant Dink, but the information could not be verified at the time. Or so they say. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was quoted as saying on Tuesday that Turkey had paid a heavy price for not cracking down on what he called the deep state - a term which refers to secretive nationalist elements in the powerful Turkish military and bureaucracy. All of these developments should serve as a stark warning to those who are so passionate in seeing Turkey as a full EU member state...

Newmania,
Thorpe didn't actually have the chap murdered but certainly conspired in such goings on....noone can have any doubt on that point.

What's that saying about throwing stones? There is no political party that is squeaky clean in this direction, it's always hurtful for those who have been unceremoniously dumped, and especially for children.
I don't think we need worry ourselves about the Lib Dems too much anyway.
