The French are repulsive

As Cranmer has observed, if one posts about Islam, one is inevitably deluged with comments. As for other subjects, the level of response can be a bit on the light side....But this is an important one, folks. So indulge me.
During a five-day trip to Britain, the Rwandan president Paul Kagame has been forced to publicly deny French allegations he orchestrated the assassination of his predecessor Juvenal Habyarimana in 1994, an event that triggered a genocide that claimed 800,000 victims.
President Kagame severed diplomatic relations with Paris last month after French judge Jean-Louis Bruguiere issued charges accusing nine Kagame acolytes of shooting down President Habyarimana's jet. Bruguiere filed a document at the Paris prosecutor's office, citing evidence that Kagame, a Tutsi, and members of his military staff devised the operation to destroy Habyarimana's plane

Rwanda accuses Paris of training soldiers it knew would later commit genocide. France denies any wrongdoing, saying its military intervention helped Rwandans. Survivors’ groups have accused France of inadvertently extending the genocide when its troops occupied parts of southern Rwanda in a bid to help provide safe havens for refugees. They say France’s military presence helped slow Kagame’s advance, allowing Hutu extremists to continue their killing.

France, one of the key supporters of the Hutu-led regime that governed the country in the years leading up to the genocide, has always denied any involvement in the massacres.A French parliamentary commission in 1998 cleared Paris of responsibility for the genocide while admitting that "strategic errors" had been made.

Algeria's president Abdelaziz Bouteflika has said that French colonization of his country Algeria was a form of genocide. In a speech in April 2006, the Algerian president Bouteflika said: "We no longer know whether we are Berbers (indigenous North Africans), Arabs, Europeans or French". France committed a "genocide of Algerian identity" during the colonial era, he said. Bouteflika also said "Colonisation brought the genocide of our identity, of our history, of our language, of our traditions”

Paris says that the past should be left to historians. As far as Algeria is concerned.

And yet France's lower house of parliament recently passed a bill making it a crime to deny the Armenian genocide, a step that has been strongly denounced by the Turkish government. The Turkish government argues that the past should be left to historians.

Should the past be left to historians or judges? And why is France – a second rate power with a multitude of its own problems- so intent on projecting itself in the Third World? And with such a selective memory. Given that the country has so much African and Arab blood on its hands....

Most Turks fail to follow the argument, but here goes:

If a parliament somewhere, (Iran perhaps) votes that the Holocaust did not happen, would it be true? Of course not. So, just because the French parliament votes on the Armenian Genocide, neither does that make it a historic fact.

Turks just prefer, we didn't do it, and say nothing of the laws that ban saying the opposite in their own country.

Serf,
you are right. But my intention is not to defend the Turks but to point the stark contradictions and the hypocrisy in the French approach. I e-mailed you at your yahoo address.

So many different wars in one post. Rwanda needs to have evidence to substnatiate its claims, and possibility endorsement from other organisations. Should France really get involved in the Turkish/Armenian issue>

French hypocrisy is sacrosanct in France...and it is part of the French character. The main trait of the French as a nation is arrogance. Let us look at the genocide committed by the French in the Napoleonic era happened all over Europe; they emptied Europe of manpower to send to Russia in 1812, very few Frenchman died in the retreat from Moscow.

The French would happily see genocide committed on a large scale everywhere around the world if it suited their purpose.

As to the Turks...yes there was genocide in Armenia, and look throughout the region just before, during and after WW1 and you'll see genocide was all part of the game then, but with Rwanda and Nigeria etc. we are not talking about then we are talking about now, and the French will do whatever they want in their ultimate arrogance; look at how they treat the EU? Rainbow Warrior? Iraq? Nato? Defence contracts?

I don't know why they are so arrogant; they are losers of the worst kind and always have been, and that's why they hate us so much. The arrogance is like the smile of a sad person.

I can't stand them and love to see them in trouble. I can't wait for the CAP to be scrapped for them...40% of the whole EU budget going to those fuckers makes me boke.

Shotgun,

"those fuckers"

Thank you for sharing with us your insights in such an eloquent manner.

The normal French citizens isn't arrogant at all. However, the French upper-class is extremely arrogant probably because they feel as heirs of the French monarchy and because they are able to express themselves using civilized language unlike people sounding like uncouth Yobbos. With regard to the latter, an article The Gift of Language by Theodore Dalrymple might be of interest.

Especially for tossers like this colin character who seem to see the french as something to admire...including the really obtuse and arrogant ignorant fuckers who live in the interior countryside...not the upper class at all, perhaps we should remember the single most comparable piece of genocide to the Holocaust...and guess who it was carried out by? Those french fuckers.

While collaborating with the Japanese in Inodochina..the French confiscated the bulk of what would now be the Vietnamese rice harvest year on year to give to the Japs to use as a fuel to burn as part of their war effort: 2.5 million Vietnamese died over a few short years as a direct result of french fucker collaboration with the Japs. That is true and not mentioned often is it?

Those french fuckers have form when it comes to genocide, so listen little to their protests.

Shotgun,

After reading The Gift of Language, I can understand your problem. It is similar to the uncle in Dalrymple's article:

"Accordingly, my father learned to speak and write standard English, and I never heard him utter a single word that betrayed his origins. He could discourse philosophically without difficulty; I sometimes wished he had been a little less fluent.

My uncle, by contrast, remained trapped in the language of the slums. He was a highly intelligent man and what is more a very good one: he was one of those rare men, much less common than their opposite, from whom goodness radiated almost as a physical quality. No one ever met him without sensing his goodness of heart, his generosity of spirit.

But he was deeply inarticulate. His thoughts were too complex for the words and the syntax available to him."

Shotgun, rest assured that I am in full sympathy with your handicap. And please don't blame yourself and point the shotgun at your own head. Maybe I am able to help. To increase variety, you could sometimes substitute twat for cunt and fucking for screwing. After some practicing, the elegance of your language will become indistinguishable from Oskar Wild's aphorisms.

Very interesting! I never heard anything about it and would be most grateful if you could give a reference.

Your outbursts of hate against the French are difficult to understand purely as a consequence of reading. It seems that you have had some really unpleasant experiences with French people.
