The Speaker sucks...

The Speaker and fully-signed up member of the Scottish Raj, Michael Martin, threatened to suspend prime minister's questions toaday after the Tory leader asked Blair if he still wanted Gordon Brown to succeed him. A legitimate question. And Cameron asked the same question two weeks ago. Without reprimand from the Speaker as I recall.

When Cameron challenged the Speaker, and demanded: "Are you honestly saying we cannot ask the prime minister of the country who ..." he was again cut off by the Speaker, amid loud Labour jeers. After rephrasing his question, demanding of Mr Blair: "Perhaps I could just ask who you'd like to see as the next prime minister of this country?" Martin then said: "I'll allow that. That's in order." Lots of loud Labour jeers again. TB, unsurprisingly, held back from giving Big Gordo his clear endorsement. No change there, then.

Theoretically, the Speaker is neutral (or at least should prtetend to be). The current one fails on that count and is still far too beholden to his colleagues and friends on the Labour benches. And Bliar has given increasingly poor performances at PMQs of late. Did the Speaker deliberately offer a spot of morale boosting to TB and his (former) colleagues today?...Surely not. I must be getting cynical or something.

The Speaker should have sent Cameron to his room and ordered his Housemaster to give him a good thrashing

He could have sent Bliar to his housemaster too. DC may be an Eton man but Tony is an old boy of Fettes, Scotland's Eton.....

I still think DC has been dreadful the last couple of weeks.

He has the odd superb PMQ's a month then the rest our poor. Hopefully he'll learn as he has only been doing it a year.

Gordo is a humourless twit too so will be easy to wind up.
