Iraq…from worse to even worse

A newly-released report drafted by the Special Inspector General for Iraq’s Reconstruction, has revealed that the U.S. Department of Defense failed to register the serial numbers of hundreds of thousands of weapons as they were transferred to Iraqi security forces. Specifically, American military officials registered only 12,000 out of 500,000 weapons as they were transferred to Iraqi security forces.
Those weapons included rocket-propelled grenade launchers, semi-automatic pistols, assault rifles, and machine guns. A large number-hundreds, thousands?- have presumably found their way into the hands of the "insurgents". The report also reveals that Iraqi security forces cannot still properly function without support from the American military. The Pentagon cannot even come up with an accurate figure for the number of Iraqi soldiers who have been given given military training to date.....

My hunch is it will be found in many years that the Yanks quartermasters sold these weapons when given a chance.

The drive to cash in is insatiable for the yanks; a quality I admire.

When the civil war breaks out and the US troops leave the US can get back to selling arms to kill arabs to kill arabs as it has done in this region since 1980.

It was a much more sensible strategy than the recent one.
